this scene
I worked at a daycare one summer. And I never tire of watching all the wonderful things kids do while playing; things they pretend to be, ways they set up toys. I just love being around their creative, spontaneous, and silly energy. This is what I stumbled upon during playtime (btw, it is always playtime...if its not betime I guess) at the campsite.
cupcakes
We can always count on Krissy for some wonderfully delicious, made-from-scratch cupcakes. Anderson even calls her "Krissy Cupcake".

the situation
So we had a lovely time together on John's week off. Then we got home. And we had a fight about toilet paper. Yes, toilet paper. It had to do with my disregard for others, because apparently I never grab a new roll from the other room when the roll is done. I am not deliberatley being mean-hearted, I'm just running to the washroom and back to the kids in the small windows of time that life allows me. And if I'm not running back to them, then there is a toddler in the bathroom with me trying to empty shampoo bottles, a baby on my lap, and a cat perched on that ledge trying to lick my face (or some combination therein).
So later that evening, I walked into the bathroom to find this scene. John's response: "situation resolved". I have yet to move it, because I get such a good laugh everytime I look at it. I'm playing with fire here, because the whole thing could topple on me while all other said chaos is happening around me. But it is worth it.

little yellow garden faerie
My grandpapa always loved a woman in yellow. And it makes so much sense, such a happy colour, for a man who was always smiling. I wish he could see this little girl in her yellow dress. She is always smiling, just like he always was.
...and she already loves the beach
She loved squishing her feet into the sand, and splashing and getting all sandy. But when a big wave came in at her sitting there she squealed with total surprise and fear. I was right there to grab her, so I'm sure her love of the beach is still strong.
Vintage Rocker
My aunt picked this up at an antique store. It had been in a cottage for 40 years before making it to the antique store. It is a perfect prop for some portraits of my girl. I found the shirt she is wearing when I was pregnant with her. I hadn't found out if she was a girl yet, but I took a gamble and bought it anyways. I couldn't pass up that fabric with the tea cups.
