oh my sweet boy. who is all too much like me. so much so, that we do clash. with full, unrelenting intensity at times. you are so very loved. my little grumpy puppy.

You never know when that last swim will be. It kind of sneaks up on you, like all of a sudden there's no more swimming. It always makes me sad, when I look back and realize, oh that was the last swim, there will be no more this year. This one was September 9th, while all the kiddies were back in school, we were squeezing in just one last beach day.

long weekend :: camp

up north, it's not the cottage, it's the camp. even if there is plumbing and all creature comforts, it is still called camp. and you usually know at least someone who has one. we had a great last weekend of summer, squeezing in all those camp things.

early morning swim, outdoor fire for marshmallows, indoor fire to sleep beside (oh september nights), great meals, picnic table lunch, watching the sunset at the dock with a glass of wine, board games, and puzzles, and getting a little grumpy chasing the kids around the cabin while the boys smoked cigars and shot bb guns in the rain for most of the afternoon.

gotta love that last weekend of summer where you go from swimsuits to leggings & sweaters all in the same day. a little bit of summer, a little bit of fall. a nice transition.
