This is what was going on at the sewing machine in this post. Some handmade for a little baby boy, who's Mommy I've known since she was 8 years old. And now a new little one is joining the family, a little girl, who I can't wait to start sewing for.

birthday

We had a full weekend of celebration for John's birthday this weekend. I didn't photograph too much, we were too busy enjoying ourselves. It all started Thursday morning, sitting in the backyard with Laura and coffee and cookbooks to plan the meal. Southern Spain Pinchito Chicken, BBQ fun, bonfire, sitting in the grass watching the stars, breakfast, coffee, golf, naps, more BBQ, late evening chatting on the patio with candles, late night sauna and swim, sleepover, more great breakfast, more family sleepover, ice cream cake, movie, shopping, and a date for just the two of us.

We ran into our friend Jordan at Starbucks and he took the photo of the two of us.

Summer

The nights are getting cooler, the days are still warm, August is upon us. We're enjoying that mix of summer with a little taste of fall. Hope you are all enjoying and soaking up this last bit of summer. It's been a good hot one, with lots of time outdoors and swimming. We spent many evenings outdoors because it was cooler and more comfortable than inside our house. Finally, we are back to weather that is good for sleeping.

Maeva is 6 months old and always wants to be in Mama's arms. If she can see me she wants to be with me. I know this is a normal part of development, but it can be very exhausting...especially the hourly wakings for just a little snuggle. Or how she refuses to sit in the Bumbo to eat solids off a spoon. She has to be on my lap eating off my finger. I walked to the post office yesterday and our new sling had arrived. Yes! A pouch sling that fits a bit tighter, which is way better for my back. Now she's close enough to kiss, a good indication that we have a good fit on the sling. And Maeva's super happy about the extra kisses and being able to play with my necklace.
