Last day

It was the last day of the 8 week school readiness program. It started in the depths of winter, and we're finally emerging into spring (as long as we don't count the snow storms we still keep getting every few days!).

restaurant with kids II

Or it looks a little more like this...
(I especially love incorporating grease stains into the crayon art)

It was still fun, chaotic but fun. Anderson walked out and said, "I love that restaurant, you get a cupcake". And I think he enjoyed his great window seat and watching the cars go by. I loved that restaurant too, not for the cupcake but for the beer sampler (and of course for the quality time with my family).

Hardrock42 Gastropub - also great on a Friday night, sans kids, for "kill the keg" - rotating $4 pints that change every hour

restaurant with kids

It can look so glamourous...

{I kinda realized this looked like a just drink a whole lot while dining with kids post. You know, to deal with things like simultaneous "I have to pee" "I pooped in my diaper" statements when the delicious, hot food has just arrived. Actually, it was a few bites in, which is worse, because you know what you are missing while you change that diaper. And you know how good the food used to taste before it got cold. But as much as large amounts of beer (not a sampler tray equal to one pint) would surely improve the perils of the experience, you can't exactly pile your drunk selves and children into a cab to get home.}

hoppity hop hop

I wanted to get little pails for an egg hunt, and I found some polka-dot ones (I'm totally crazy for anything with dots), they came in yellow, pink and blue. I liked the pink and blue best, because the polka-dots stood out better. But I was not totally into the whole pink/blue, boy/girl thing; I try to avoid it as much as I can, mostly because it is so overdone that it totally annoys me. But I bought them anyways, and went home with my two little pails and showed them to my kids. My son said, "Can I have the pink one?", and my daughter, "Blue one, blue one!". I guess I don't have anything to worry about. And bonus points for them not both wanting the same one!
So here are some photos of them enjoying their egg hunt and ridiculous pre-breakfast candy eating (oh I have such fond memories of that once a year kind of fun). Note the polka-dot theme extending past just the pails: baskets, eggs, bunnies.
Meava dove right in, unwrapped her bunny and started eating it within seconds. Anderson took his time checking everything out, probably actually noticing the lovely polka-dot wrapper on his bunny. Maeva didn't even bother egghunting, and just got into eating everything in her basket. Anderson did the egg hunt and kept taking breaks to admire his stash. I love how different these two little people are.

adventure

A new thing around here is going on adventures. They dress up, pack snack and toys, and run around the house on an adventure. I love when they play together...

snow melting sunshine

Early spring photos. That first sunshine that melted the snow. Peanuts for the creatures, who are busy nesting and preparing wee ones. Fresh air. Skirts. New sunglasses. Opening up sandbox season.

one more...and an outtake

I meant to include this one instead of another. But I didn't feel like redoing the whole post, because I play around in the html to change the image sizes...which would be a major pain to redo for 14 images.
Since I take too many phone photos on an everyday basis, it forces me to make a point of doing little, periodic, proper photoshoots. And I'm always glad I did!
My second born is lucky to have just as many photos as her first born brother! Sometimes I notice that I take more of her and not enough of him these days, but she's at that toddler age with so many photo ops, and I remember when Anderson was 2 got to steal the show for photos.
He's at the "cheese" stage (see below), so I have to just chat with him and catch shots of his smiles after telling me each elaborate story, hence the off centre images sometimes (I'm looking at him instead of the through the camera - I guess a tripod could work too, oh well).
