With the heat of this summer, there was very little cooking going on here. However, this long weekend; rather than a weekend of goodbye to summer, it seemed more like a welcoming to fall. The house smells of baked apples and candles burning. I was able to do all that steaming for baby food (something that would have been quite unbearable in 40 degree weather, hence the collection of these jars that I am now reusing). Maeva now has some barley, apples, pears, summer squash, and carrots for the week. It is in the freezer, but there is a good chance she'll gobble through it all this week. Making the food is a farily simple process: wash, steam, blend, spoon into jars, and freeze. I leave all the peeling on for extra fibre and vitamins and it makes the process so much quicker when you don't have to peel everything.

Love these photos....Maeva is such a lucky little girl!
ReplyDeleteJohn wants everyone to know that the baked apples are his creation. After I got out of the kitchen he made those and some chicken for dinner. I'm a lucky girl too!
